Divorce & civil partnerships
The only ground for divorce/dissolution of civil partnerships is that the relationsip has irretrievably broken down. To prove this you have to rely on one of the statutory facts:
- adultery (not available for civil partnerships)
- behaviour
- desertion for 2 years or more
- separation for 2 years or more (with consent)
- separation for 5 years or more
We can advise you if you can rely on one of these facts.
If the divorce/dissolution is undefended (which most are) no court attendance is usually necessary.
If you or your partner live or have lived outside England and Wales, early advice is imperative about where and when to start the process.
We offer timely advice to guide you.
